Since the introduction of the above subject more third party research and guidance has become available, so it has been decided to revise the guidance contained within this web site.
POLICY STATEMENT
Reference should be sought, when considering the suitability of the use of breathable roof sarking membranes within non-ventilated cold-pitched roof constructions, from either: -

Thermal insulation: avoiding risks. A good practice guide supporting building regulations requirements. 2002 edition, prepared by Charles Stirling, BRE Scotland (refer to paragraphs 2.1(f), 2.1(n), 2.8(a), 2.8 (b) and 2.8 (c)), or
-
Agreement Certification: Obtained by individual manufacturers for the satisfactory use of their product in particular circumstances. These certificates are issued by the British Board of Agrement after assessment of the products, and
-
Manufacturers literature and guidance: especially when backed by third-party certification should be adhered to.
