a). NOTE: Within usage catagories
numbered 10 and 11 the Fire Certificates (Special Premises) Regulations
1976 may
apply dependent upon the type and quantity of hazardous sustances that are
stored.
b). NOTE: The Fire Precautions
(Workplace) Regulations 1997 (as amended) may also apply to staff that are
employed upon premises
within usage catagories 3, 4 and 5.
c). NOTE: When construction work
is being carried out on an existing building, where certain parts remain
occupied during
the construction process. The Fire service are responsible for the
enforcement of the Construction (Health, and welfare) Regulations in respect of fire and safety. Where the building is
unoccupied, or work is within a
separated part of the building, the Health and Safety Executive are responsible for enforcement.
d). NOTE: The Fire Precautions Act
1971 may also apply to usage catagories 13, 14, 16 and 20 which contain administrative
staff of sufficient numbers.
e). NOTE: Within the Unitary areas
of Bournemouth and Poole their own local acts have additional fire
precautions that may apply
in the following instances: -
Bournemouth Borough Council Act 1985
1. Car Parking within buildings,
2. Commercial buildings over 7000m3,
3. Building with a floor more than 18.3m above ground level,
4. Existing flats where a floor in the building is more than 4.5m above ground level.
Poole Borough Council Act 1986
Section 10: Parking places safety provisions: Any building type where parking for
vehicles is provided within.
Section 12: Fire and safety precautions in public and other buildings.
Section 13: Buildings used for the storage of flammable substances.
Section 14: Fire precautions in certain large buildings: Buildings used for trade,
manufacture or storage, where the volume exceeds 7000m3
Section 15: Fire precautions in high buildings,I.e. those exceeding 18.3m.
Section 16: Changes to the requirements of section 72 of the Building Act 1984, to
apply to existing buildings used as flats with
a floor exceeding 4.5m above ground level and buildings used for dance
classes.
f). NOTE: Within The Unitary areas
of Bournemouth and Poole their own Borough Safety Teams will be the enforcing authority.
